Welcome to the third symposium organised by the European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association (ETCMA).
Our topic is ‘Research: What, How and for Whom?’
Whilst practitioners and patients might know from experience the benefits that can be derived from Chinese medicine, as well as its limitations, the wider world asks us to provide ‘evidence’ that will convince them of its legitimacy.
Many Chinese medicine practitioners shy away from becoming involved in research because the research models and the treatment protocols on offer from the scientific community do not fit our imagined reality. If this is true, how can we change it?
The three speakers we have invited, all with prestigious backgrounds in research, are grappling with this very question from different perspectives and will provide the inspiration for seeing that research issues matter to all of us.
As a profession we must reclaim the agenda and ask our own questions, for research to be meaningful and useful in clinical practice.
The venue for the symposium is the Seedamm Plaza Hotel by Lake Zurich, only 30 minutes away from Zurich itself. There is a welcome dinner on Friday evening before the symposium, where we can meet each other over wine and great food.
We would very much like to see you there!
