Dear Colleagues,
You are warmly invited to the third European School Leaders Day (ESLD) at Rothenburg on the 20th May 2009, organised by the European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association (ETCMA).
On the basis of feedback from last year’s event you told us that you liked the mixture of presentations and workshops, but that you wanted more time spent talking and exchanging views with each other in the workshops. You also wanted greater clarity and focus for the day.
The most common theme that emerged in the feedback for the topic this year was discussing the possibility of a core curriculum for acupuncture across Europe.
This suggestion was also greeted with enthusiasm at the General Assembly (GA) meeting of the ETCMA earlier this year.
As a result the theme question for this year is, ‘Would it be beneficial to have a common core curriculum across Europe?
All members at the GA were asked to send in a copy of their core curriculum. The ETCMA will collate these and circulate for information to all participants at the ESLD.
The day will start with a summary of these curricula followed by a presentation on the theme. This will be followed by workshops where participants will be split into smaller groups to discuss particular issues related to the theme (determined prior to the day).
In order for the workshops to be manageable we are suggesting that one school leader per school attends. We would be grateful if you could let us know whether you will be attending by the 4th May, so that we can make the appropriate arrangements.
Refreshments will be available but we would like to ask for a small fee of 50 Euros per participant to cover the costs of these and the materials that will be provided on the day and afterwards.
