40th TCM conferenceMay 20– May 24, 2008
What are 40 years compared to the millennia of development of Chinese Medicine? Surely just a short wink of the eye. But as to (more than) 40 years of continued professional development in Chinese Medicine in Germany and Europe, we are talking about milestones! There is no aspect of modern medicine that underwent such an expansion as Chinese Medicine, which is also reflected in the programme of the AGTCM anniversary TCM Kongress Rothenburg. Since its early beginnings, the guiding principle of the Rothenburg Kongress has been about knowledge and humanity. Despite all demands in teaching and practice, despite the immense depth of knowledge, despite all the differences in interpreting Chinese Medicine there still are a vivid willingness to communicate and a sense for mutual respect among the various schools, thoughts and approaches. This is the forum where people with very different backgrounds learn from and inspire each other, as do healers and physicians, scientists in history, language and biology and practicing therapists, executives and practitioners, specialists/ lecturers and students. One forte of Chinese Medicine is its diversity and plurality present in these Rothenburg days, which continue to fascinate and strengthen us. Talking about aging, we think of the state of the Jingshen, and it has become one of our main topics, with the Shen receiving greater attention as to give credit to our own roots of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy in the West, of Freud and Jung. The Yijing can be regarded as the most profound and antique foundation of Chinese Medicine –some far-reaching presentations will pay tribute to this topic. The subject of autoimmunity diseases will demonstrate that the ‘old medicine’ can provide clear answers where modern medicine has come to its limits. The fourth main topic will be concerned with Five Element Acupuncture and its practical applications, a more European style of acupuncture which is often not fully appreciated. The TCM-Science day has now come into full bloom and on Friday will offer a great concept for practitioners, too. The first scientific symposium on the topic of reception and transmission will be held on day one and two. Having been received very well in 2008, the Infertility day will be featured again. In 2009, Chinese Medicine will look beyond its own nose by taking a look at naturopathic dentistry and is designed to initiate a whole series of TCM-related alternative therapies. The TCM-Pharmacists’ day has now obviously gotten into its true shape. The level of meetings has reached higher grounds, and productive mutual exchange has become an essential part of the Kongress. The AGTCM cordially invites you to this year’s anniversary TCM-Kongress in Rothenburg. Looking forward to see you there! Website: www.tcm-kongress.de Programme: programme 2009
